Dates: April 28 and 29, 2018
El Paso, TX, USA
We will be creating a natural fiber art doll, around 15" tall. Details on techniques you will be learning are on my website.
This workshop is not suitable for people who have never made a doll before, if you haven't made a doll but would still like to attend, I recommend you purchase one of the suggested patterns available in my Etsy store (either the Wee Baby Bunny or the Little Fig doll pattern), so that at least you get a feel for how to work with wool and form a doll's head.
You will receive a handy list of things to bring (no need for sewing machines), and handwork to practice before attending. We will be investing our energy together for around 20 hours over the two days (starting at 8 AM on Saturday). So it is a very intense workshop.
The price for the workshop includes all the materials you will need to create your doll, I will provide you with sewn body parts and the required tools so that we can get working right away. Once you have secured your spot I will send you a selection and recommendation of yarns to choose from for the hair, as well as eye colour. The skin tone will be selected by me, based on availability from my suppliers. It will be a light colour fabric.
Also included in the price are light lunches and afternoon snacks (we will take short breaks) for both Saturday and Sunday, rest of meals and accommodation are up to you. You will go home with a finished doll (hopefully!) and a PDF of all instruction imparted at the workshop.
You are not allowed to take photos or videos during the workshop, as I want your full attention. Please know you are not allowed to use this doll pattern to sell from. You are however highly encouraged to adapt and adopt the techniques taught to you into your own body of work.
I hope that my guidance helps further you on your doll making journey and that you go back home ready to create, move forward and fill this world with the softness and tenderness of wooly souls.
Thank you for entrusting me with your time and attention. It is my hope that my outlook on doll making not just teaches you something new, but that it inspires you to dive within and create from a place of love for this most wonderful art medium.
